Import Trade Republic Dividends

Tax Reclaim imports your Trade Republic dividend history directly from the transactions CSV or dividend statement PDF you already have. Upload the file and Tax Reclaim reads the gross dividend amounts and any withholding tax already deducted, then calculates exactly how much foreign tax you can legally reclaim under your tax treaty.

What Tax Reclaim reads from your Trade Republic file

  • Takes either file. The transactions CSV covers a whole year in one upload; a dividend statement PDF covers one payment, and Trade Republic issues one per dividend.
  • From the CSV: Trade Republic ships two different transaction exports and is rolling the newer one out per market, so both are live at once. Tax Reclaim detects which one you have. The newer export reports a gross amount with the tax withheld beside it and puts the ISIN in its symbol column, and it covers interest payments as well as dividends. The older one reports a net value and leaves its tax column empty, so the withholding is estimated from the source country's statutory non-resident rate and you review it before saving.
  • From the PDF: reads the gross dividend from the statement's GESAMT total (English: TOTAL) in the security's own currency, so US and other foreign-currency dividends import at their native amount.
  • Picks up the foreign withholding tax from the Quellensteuer line (English: "Withholding Tax for US issuer") — the treaty-reclaimable amount — and deliberately ignores German domestic tax (Kapitalertragsteuer, Solidaritätszuschlag, Kirchensteuer), which is not reclaimable.
  • Reads the ISIN and the payment date from the booking row, and handles both the older comma-decimal and newer period-decimal number formats, in German and English statements.

How to export from Trade Republic

  1. 1

Open the dividend statement in Trade Republic

In the Trade Republic app, go to the position (or your Profile > Activity / Transactions) and open the dividend booking — Trade Republic issues one PDF statement per dividend payment.

  2. 2

    Download the PDF

Download the dividend statement (Wertpapierabrechnung — titled "Dividende", "Ausschüttung", or "Cash Dividend"). Trade Republic does not offer a CSV or API export for dividend income, so the PDF is the file to use.

  3. 3

    Upload to Tax Reclaim

Upload the PDF in the import wizard — the gross dividend, foreign withholding tax, ISIN, and payment date are read automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I have to upload a PDF and not a CSV?

Trade Republic does not provide a CSV or API export for dividend income — it only issues a PDF statement per payment. Tax Reclaim reads the dividend figures directly out of that PDF's text.

Does Tax Reclaim read the foreign withholding tax?

Yes — it reads the Quellensteuer line ("Withholding Tax for US issuer" on English statements), which is the treaty-reclaimable foreign tax. German domestic tax (Kapitalertragsteuer, Soli, Kirchensteuer) is intentionally excluded because it is not reclaimable under a treaty.

Do German and English statements both work?

Yes. Trade Republic issues statements in German and English, and the parser handles both, including the different number formats (1.234,56 and 1,234.56) TR has used across statement generations.

What if my statement looks different?

Trade Republic revises its statement layout roughly once a year. If a newer statement doesn't import cleanly, let us know — the parser is tuned against real statement layouts and we update it as the format changes.
