Import Freetrade Dividends

Tax Reclaim imports your Freetrade dividend history directly from the Activity CSV you already have. Upload the file and Tax Reclaim reads the gross dividend amounts and any withholding tax already deducted, then calculates exactly how much foreign tax you can legally reclaim under your tax treaty.

What Tax Reclaim reads from your Freetrade file

  • Reads the gross dividend and the tax withheld from the same row — Freetrade reports both, so nothing is estimated and no pairing across rows is needed.
  • Takes the payment date from the dividend pay date, not the ex-dividend date, so the entry lands in the tax year the cash actually arrived.
  • Uses the instrument's own currency and its ISIN, so the source country and treaty rate resolve without you entering anything.

How to export from Freetrade

  1. 1

    Open your Freetrade activity

In the Freetrade app or web platform, open Activity (or Account > Activity) where every order, dividend and fee is listed.

  2. 2

    Select the tax year

Choose the period covering the dividend payments you want to reclaim tax on.

  3. 3

    Export the CSV

Download the activity export as CSV. Dividend rows carry the gross distribution amount and the withheld tax in their own columns.

  4. 4

    Upload to Tax Reclaim

Open the import wizard, pick Freetrade, and upload the CSV. Only dividend rows are imported; orders and fees are ignored.

Frequently asked questions

Does Freetrade's export include the withholding tax?

Yes. Freetrade reports the gross distribution and the tax withheld in separate columns on the dividend row, so Tax Reclaim reads the real figure rather than estimating it.

Which date does Tax Reclaim use?

The dividend pay date. The ex-dividend date is ignored, because reclaim forms ask for the date the payment was made.

Will my orders and fees be imported as income?

No. Only dividend rows are read; buys, sells, deposits and fees are skipped.
