Import Interactive Brokers Dividends

Tax Reclaim imports your Interactive Brokers dividend history directly from the Activity Statement CSV you already have. Upload the file and Tax Reclaim reads the gross dividend amounts and any withholding tax already deducted, then calculates exactly how much foreign tax you can legally reclaim under your tax treaty.

What Tax Reclaim reads from your Interactive Brokers file

  • Reads the "Dividends" and "Withholding Tax" sections of the Activity Statement and joins them by currency, date, and ticker to build a gross-plus-withheld entry per dividend.
  • Parses the ISIN directly out of the statement's "TICKER(ISIN) Cash Dividend" description text.
  • Skips subtotal/total rows automatically so only individual dividend payments are imported.

Frequently asked questions

Which file do I export from Interactive Brokers?

The Activity Statement CSV, generated with both the "Dividends" and "Withholding Tax" sections enabled — found under Reports > Statements > Activity Statement in Client Portal.

Does Tax Reclaim read the withholding tax?

Yes — it reads the "Withholding Tax" section and joins each entry to its matching dividend by currency, date, and ticker.

What if my statement doesn't have a Withholding Tax section?

You need to enable it when generating the custom Activity Statement in Client Portal — without it, only gross dividend amounts are available and no tax withheld can be imported.

How is the ISIN identified?

Interactive Brokers embeds the ISIN in the dividend description, e.g. "AAPL(US0378331005) Cash Dividend" — Tax Reclaim extracts it automatically from that text.
