Import Interactive Brokers (Flex Query) Dividends
Tax Reclaim imports your Interactive Brokers (Flex Query) dividend history directly from the Flex Query XML (Cash Transactions — Dividends + Withholding Tax) you already have. Upload the file and Tax Reclaim reads the gross dividend amounts and any withholding tax already deducted, then calculates exactly how much foreign tax you can legally reclaim under your tax treaty.

What Tax Reclaim reads from your Interactive Brokers (Flex Query) file
- Reads the CashTransaction records from a Flex Query XML export, pairing each "Dividends" entry with its matching "Withholding Tax" entry by ISIN/symbol, date, and currency to build a gross-plus-withheld dividend.
- Takes the ISIN, currency, amount, and payment date straight from the XML attributes — no description-text parsing, so it is more reliable than the Activity Statement CSV.
- Ignores non-dividend cash transactions automatically.

Frequently asked questions
How is the Flex Query import different from the Activity Statement CSV?
The Flex Query XML carries the ISIN, amount, currency, and date as structured attributes, so pairing dividends with their withholding tax is more reliable than parsing them out of the Activity Statement CSV's description text. Both are supported — use whichever you have.
Which sections must the Flex Query include?
Cash Transactions, with both Dividends and Withholding Tax enabled. Without the Withholding Tax records, only gross dividend amounts can be imported.
Does Tax Reclaim read the withholding tax?
Yes — each "Withholding Tax" cash transaction is matched to its dividend by ISIN/symbol, date, and currency, giving a gross amount and the tax withheld per payment.
Which output format should I choose?
XML. The Flex Query importer reads the XML export specifically; for a CSV file, use the standard Interactive Brokers (Activity Statement) importer instead.
